Building work progresses on flats on Penketh Tavern site
The construction of new apartments on the site of a former pub in Penketh is continuing.
Work to demolish the Penketh Tavern and build 30 apartments in its place first began in summer last year. The progression of the units is now well underway, with the framework of the building appearing to be largely complete.
Warrington Housing Association was granted planning permission for the development. A range of one and two bedroomed units will be created as part of the scheme which is intended for the over 55s
Chairman Judith Winterbourne previously said ” This will be a high quality development to reflect Warrington Housing Associations continued commitment to substantial investment in the borough to help make Warrington a great place to live”.
“We are helping to address the housing needs of local older people, as well as boosting local employment and supply opportunities.”
Warrington Borough Council initially turned down the application in December 2019, but this decision was later overturned by the Planning Inspectorate.
Kingsmead Construction Ltd is carrying out the building work alongside PRP Architects, Markhams Ltd, Sutcliffe Ltd and Broadgrove Planning and Development
