Downpours didn’t dampen the spirits of thousands of families that turned out for a fun-packed day in Knowsley on Friday (June 8).
Once again Knowsley Housing Trust’s free Community Day offered entertainment, music, games and much more, at King George V playing fields in Huyton.
Despite the showers, visitors enjoyed a climbing wall, fairground rides, face painting, petting zoo, jugglers, a football tournament and basketball coaching, entertainment from KCC Live and fantastic performances from some of Knowsley’s best dancers, martial artists and singers – and it was all free.
KHT staff was also on hand to give residents advice on many of its community services, including the new Property Pool Plus lettings system and KHT’s new Digital TV channel.
This year’s Community Day – which has become one of the biggest free community events in the North West – was even more special as it celebrated KHT’s 10th birthday.
There was a giant birthday card for visitors to sign and leave their memories of KHT and previous Community Days over the past decade, and a birthday cake for everyone to enjoy from CeCe’s Cakes.
Many sponsors helped make the free event possible including Structec, BAAS, Keepmoat and CDP Print Management. KHT also tweeted updates throughout the day through their #khtday hash tag making the event more engaging than ever.
KHT Chief Executive Bob Taylor said: “Every year it is fantastic to see the community come together at this event.
“There was even more of a party atmosphere this year as we celebrated KHT’s 10th birthday and we hope people will still be turning out to help us celebrate in another 10 years time.
“We have made great strides forward in improving lives and communities over the past decade and look forward to creating even more positive opportunities for Knowsley in the future.”
